Sanjay Joshi named speaker at 3D printing conference

9/26/2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sanjay Joshi, professor of industrial engineering at Penn State, has been named a speaker at the Additive Manufacturing Conference (AMC) Oct. 20-21 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The AMC will focus on industrial applications of additive manufacturing for making functional components and end-use production parts. Presented by Modern Machine Shop, Additive Manufacturing magazine, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Association for Manufacturing Technology, Local Motors, and America Makes, the two-day event for members of industry will be held at the Knoxville Convention Center.

The title of Joshi’s talk, which will take place on the second day of the conference, is “Practical Applications of Additive Manufacturing.”

“We started teaching additive manufacturing at Penn State back in 2000 when it was called rapid prototyping,” said Joshi. “It is an exciting technology that is just now really being explored and has the potential to impact the full spectrum of design and manufacturing activities from product design to the supply chain.”

Joshi currently oversees the Additive Manufacturing and Reverse Engineering Lab located within the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State.
